Update – February 2025

A graphic with a dark background and light text, stating "Quick Update: February 2025 – A quick look behind the scenes, what we've been up to the past month asnd what to expect next!"

February may have fewer days on the calendar, but that didn’t keep us from moving things forward, and we’re excited to share our progress with you.

Here’s what we’ve been up to.

E-Commerce Update: Taxes

If you sell stuff online, there will usually be a point where taxes get involved. This applies not only to physical but also digital goods, like images sold through picu. Because this will be an essential feature for a lot of photographers, we want to make sure we support this right from the start. Which is why we started developing the foundation for tax-support this month!

The first step was to introduce a new setting to activate taxes for your store and to add the tax rates that you will need (depending on the countries you sell into). This work is basically done and we are working on the finishing touches to the frontend views and some of the calculations in the backend! We expect to send this out to our beta testers with Alpha 3 (coming next week).

picu 2.5.0 & 2.5.1

While we were mostly working on our upcoming E-commerce features for picu Pro this month, we also released two new versions for picu (free), one bringing Markdown support to emails (more below) and a small bugfix release shortly after.

Markdown in Emails

With the release of version 2.5.0 this month, it is now possible to use basic formatting in all picu emails using the markdown syntax. This makes it easier to style text or even add links, headings, dividers and lists right inside the email texts.

Various

We intended to ship our first custom block to list collections, but had to postpone this to next month due to some unforeseen things in February that were more urgent. Expect this to finally be released in March.

Also, support for the french language was delayed some more, because there were just way more strings than expected that needed correcting – Merci beaucoup to Fabrice, who did a lot of work on this in February! Thanks to him, the french release should finally be available in the next few days!

Next Up in March 2025

Ok, that’s it for February!

If you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us, we love to hear from you.
