picu Pro 2.8 Released

We published picu Pro version 2.8 and an accompanying version 3.7 of picu (the free, core plugin), which will bring some new features to your photo proofing workflow.

New Pro Features

This release brings three new main additions to picu Pro, as well as some improvements under the hood.

Here’s what’s new:

Client Access Block

The biggest addition in this release is the Client Access Block. It gives your clients a simple, password-less way to access their photo collections, without having to register for a user account on your site. You can place the block anywhere on your site, for example on a client area page, and clients who enter their email address get a “magic login link” to gain access to their galleries with only one click.

Text Filtering

Clients can now search for specific images within a collection by typing into a search field. This will use the default IPTC descriptions set inside your images, so if you are tagging your photos you don’t need to change a thing and will be able to filter based on that meta data. This is especially handy for larger galleries where scrolling through hundreds of images isn’t practical.

Image Meta Keywords in Titles

The same image meta keywords can now also be used in the image title displayed on the frontend, giving you more control over how images are labeled and presented to your clients.

Improvements & Bug Fixes

  • Clients who are already logged in through the new Client Access Block or even as a regular WordPress user, no longer need to re-enter a collection password to view their galleries.
  • The Collections List block now supports styling options, like font & background colors, margins, paddings and borders. Also, the message, when no collections are found, can now be edited directly in the block itself.
  • Fixed an issue where images weren’t displaying correctly on certain server configurations, when “Prevent direct image access” was enabled.
  • Fixed a possible fatal error that could occur when the picu_pro_currencies filter was used incorrectly.
