This month, we released a major update to make images even safer in picu Pro, worked on some more tweaks for the upcoming version 7.0 of WordPress and sketched out some new concepts and ideas for picu going forward.
Improved Image Protection (Pro)
We want to make sure that the images you upload to picu are as safe as they possibly can be. For this reason, we implemented a variety of features over the years, like automatic watermarking or disabling right-clicks. With the recent release for picu Pro, we added another important protective layer, which makes it impossible to directly access images outside of picu.
With this new feature active, picu passes all image requests through a security function to verify, validate and control access to your images. This makes sure the image files cannot be accessed directly, but only from within a picu collection!
If you are using picu Pro already, you can update to version 2.5.0 and activate this in Settings > Security > Prevent direct image access. And if you are not yet using picu Pro and would like to secure your photos, now is the time to check it out!
WordPress 7.0 Compatibility + Colors
The upcoming Version 7.0 of WordPress brings a few changes to the admin UI that will also affect our collections in the editor. We further tested the current release candidate versions and fixed all incompatibilities that came up so far. While at it, we are reworking our own color scheme a bit, to make sure everything fits in with the new look of WordPress 7.0 when it’s released.
Let us know, if you have any questions or feedback! We always love to hear from you.
